Connecticut Society of Genealogists
For those with an interest in Connecticut genealogy, the Connecticut Society of Genealogists is holding their annual family history seminar on Saturday, October 20 in North Haven. I have attended the last two family history seminars in 2010 and 2011, and both were terrific. For additional information about this year's event please visit the Connecticut Society of Genealogists website at http://www.csginc.org/csg_view_event.php?event=174. The brochure for the event can be downloaded at http://www.csginc.org/pdf/seminar_brochure.pdf.
The Connecticut Society of Genealogists holds events on a variety of genealogical topics nearly every month of the year. The events are excellent and provide invaluable information for historical and genealogical research in Connecticut. For more information about their upcoming events please visit the events page at http://www.csginc.org/genealogy_events_ct.php. For more information about the society please visit http://www.csginc.org.

Massachusetts Genealogical Council Seminar Recap
Linda, Wendy, and I attended the Massachusetts Genealogical Council seminar held at Brandeis University last Saturday. It was a well-attended event with several presentations on Ethnicity and Genealogy. The program sessions and workshops were excellent, and I learned a great deal about Irish and Scottish genealogy, two of my genealogical interests that I am keen to learn more about. I plan to add some notes from the sessions to the blog later this week, and I hope that others will find them useful.
The Massachusetts Genealogical Council is very active in preserving historical records and maintaining public rights to access of records. For more information about the MGC please visit their website at: http://www.massgencouncil.org.
